  • About side effects

Most people take medicines without suffering any side effects, (also known as adverse events) but some people may experience some unwanted effects. Adverse events are not necessarily caused by the medication, they are just associated with its use. Sometimes it is difficult to tell whether an adverse event is due to a medicine or something else.

No product is ever risk free. Some of the risks are known about when a medicine is first licensed or medical device used. However, some information only comes to light later as more people use the products. The Drug Safety department ensure that as a company AstraZeneca meet our commitment to patient safety. The Drug Safety department evaluate the safety of AstraZeneca products so that adverse events can be assesed promptly and communicated to doctors, pharmacists and patients without delay.

If you are worried about a possible adverse event you should contact your doctor or pharmacist. Information about adverse event reporting can be found at www.yellowcard.gov.uk or can be reported to AstraZeneca UK Medical Information (Tel: 0800 783 0033).
